STRATEGY
Shift Law is a boutique trademark & copyright IP law firm that combines focused expertise in trademark and copyright law with a commitment to helping clients who care about “getting it right”.
The firm’s four main practice areas appeal to two distinct audiences and each audience requires a different path for conversion. Our strategy for the website began with centering these two distincly different client journeys:
- Transactional: This path is for Trademark Registration which often attracts individuals, entrepreneurs and SMEs looking for a smooth trademark registration process.
- Relationship-Based: This path involves more complex legal matters, longer engagements and larger relationship-based litigation files.
The website needed to serve both journeys and provide a clear conversion for each. We made Shift Law’s four distinct practice areas immediately visible above the fold rather than just listing them within a services menu. Each service area was also created with its very own conversion path especially created for its audience type. Just as importantly, the site needed to establish from the outset that Shift Law is an experienced, highly specialized law firm, with a full-service IP solicitor, trademark prosecution (Canada and U.S.) and trademark and copyright litigation practice.
BRANDING
Shift Law’s existing identity was generic and didn’t reflect the bespoke nature of the firm or level of expertise behind it. Starting from scratch, we developed a completely custom visual identity designed to be unique, memorable and unmistakably Shift Law.

The previous identity for Shift Law was generic and didn’t reflect the bespoke nature of the firm or the level of expertise behind it. So, we created a completely bespoke visual identity from scratch, that was distinctive, memorable and obviously Shift Law.
We paired the logo with a sophisticated dark colour palette, with accents of vibrant orange to bring energy and vibrancy to the brand. Then we extended the brand’s visual design to convey thoughtfulness, efficiency and clarity at the core of its execution.
The result is a brand that feels very distinctive while retaining the credibility expected of an established intellectual property law firm that is also forward thinking and passionate about its work.

SEO & AI OPTIMIZATION
Search optimization was considered from the beginning. We structured and wrote the site to clearly communicate Shift Law’s areas of expertise, answer the questions prospective clients are actually asking, and establish the firm and its lawyers as authoritative sources on trademark, copyright and intellectual property law.
Traditional SEO and emerging AI search informed the content structure throughout the site. Service pages are focused around clear search intent, with attention to geographic relevance in Toronto and Canada, as well as Shift Law’s cross-border Canadian and U.S. trademark services. Succinct answers, FAQs, internal linking and an expanding Insights section provide useful, well-organized information that can be understood by people, search engines and AI-driven discovery tools.
Optimization continues after launch. We monitor search performance, optimize content and landing pages, and work with Shift Law to build its library of authoritative content. SEO is also coordinated with Google Ads so that search intent, ad messaging and landing-page content work together to attract the right audience and move prospective clients toward action.

WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
The website was created to be high-end and unique, but quick and easy to navigate. We deliberately kept the interface simple so the new visual identity, expertise and content of Shift Law could do all the work without unnecessary visual clutter or gimmicks.
UI and UX decisions were guided by the client journeys established during strategy. Principal services and paths to conversion are immediately accessible above the fold, while trademark registration clients can begin the process through a simple three-step Get Started form. More complex services provide clear paths to learn more, establish the firm’s expertise and make contact.
Behind that simplicity is a highly customized WordPress build, developed for speed, accessibility and ease of ongoing management. Flexible content structures make it easy for Shift Law to add and update services, lawyers, Insights and other content as the firm and its digital marketing continue to evolve.
MARKETING
The launch was the beginning, not the end.
We continue to monitor website and search performance, using analytics to understand how visitors are finding and using the site, where they are converting, and where there are opportunities to improve.
Those insights inform ongoing adjustments to content, page structure, SEO and paid search campaigns, as well as the development of new content through Shift Law’s Insights section. Our work also extends beyond the website, identifying opportunities to strengthen the firm’s visibility and authority through relevant third-party channels. It’s an ongoing process of measuring, learning and refining.
